Iker García-Ferrero is an AI Engineer at Krea AI, a position he secured through the Exponential Fellowship. He completed his PhD in Natural Language Processing at the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU, focusing on multilingual NLP and developing deep learning models for low-resource languages. His research includes data-transfer methods for automatic annotation generation and model-transfer techniques to enhance zero-shot cross-lingual performance. Notably, he contributed to the development of GoLLIE, a 34-billion-parameter large language model for zero-shot information extraction, and MedicalMT5, the first open-source text-to-text multilingual model for the medical domain. Previously, he interned as an Applied Scientist at Amazon in Barcelona and was a visiting associate at the University of Pennsylvania's Cognitive Computation Group.
